三摩鉢底

(or 三摩鉢提); 三摩拔提 (or 三摩跋提); 三摩越 samāpatti, attainment, arrival; defined by 等至 and 等持 which is intp. as complete (sa) dhyāna; similar to 三摩半那 (sa) samāpanna, attainment. Eitel says: "a degree of abstract ecstatic meditation preparatory to the final attainment of (sa) samādhi." Clough speaks of eight (sa) samāpattis, i.e. attainments-- "eight successive states induced by the ecstatic meditation." v. also 三摩越.
